They must meet daily deadlines, and so they spend their days on the phone, not in leisurely walks around the neighborhoods between East 86th and 87th. Sure, they're going to get some (minor) details wrong. But readers are lucky and should be grateful that they write independent, orginal news without the fluff. Think about that next time you plunk down your quarter for all of that hard work.
