An intriguing piece about old New-York that brings to life a time where subway walls were not used for scribbling and reminds us of a time far different from our own.

Yes, it would, Scott. The make a sob-story short: I had written this post last night and tagged it as such. But then half of it mysteriously vanished over night. It's now tagged properly. Thanks.

Interesting -- though I think this should probably stay in the station (move it somewhere else in the station if necssary -- I'm not familiar with the renovation plans). It's nice to stumble on a piece of Subway History every now and again in its original setting. If it's in the Transit Museum, it's not quite "stumbling".

By the way, wouldn't this article also fall under the "view from underground" category? I kind of like those segments in the blog.

Thank you for this - I absolutely love NYC history.

What do you know about the old subway station on the 2/3 line near 90th Street? I always look at the graffiti that now litters that station while on the express train.

It's all over the place today I think. The Times did our dirty work for us. They reported on the history, and those of us wondering what this tile was finally could discuss it with some semblance of knowledge.
