i don't find that many problems with the bus system (albeit as a sporadic user), although i think it's great that they formally elicit feedback like this. honestly, there are so many more problems with the subway system!

I don't mind the unnecessary going-through-the-motions of sending out surveys for suggestions that they could come up with using common sense, so long as they then do something with the survey results when it's all tallied up.

And how hard is it to switch cross-town bus service to every other avenue? 2 years of taking the damned M23 just became a big reason for my recent switching of jobs...

Yes, these surveys seem obvious and unneccessary. We all know what the problems are and the transit authority knows what the solutions are, even if there are financial, institutional and union barries to fixing them.

But ...

I've been a customer of the MTA for more than 40 years now (shhh ... I look younger) and this is the first time I can recall the agency officially asking for its customers' opinions. If this helps send the message to employees that we the paying riders are the people who matter, I'm all for it -- I see this part of an attempt to change the culture of the agency.
