deMause: Fund the MTA

By

Neil deMause urges Mayor Bloomberg to find a dedicated source of revenue for the MTA. The agency can no longer rely on the volatile tax revenues, and the city, he argues, isn’t ponying up nearly enough money to keep the trains running. Well said. [Metro New York]

  1. Alon Levy says:

In lean times, all government agencies get fewer revenues, and many have higher expenses. It’s perfectly normal to run deficits during recession and then pay for them with growthtime surplus. If it’s good enough for public health care systems, social security systems, and schools, it should be good enough for public transportation.
