Just to give you some back-up, you can see at the r26/28/29 page at nycsubway.org that the R26 wasn't built until 1959. So if your friend's dad worked in the 50's, the Lo-V is the better choice. I personally remember Lo-Vs running on the Lex into the early 60's. Besides, Lo-Vs are so darn pretty. I agree with Bob.
