It’s also interesting that Metro-North seems to be doing everything right, specifically noting Transit-oriented development, customer service, and community outreach (which is described as “exemplary”); while the word appearing most often in the Long Island Rail Road write-up is “disappointing.”

There has always been talk as to whether the two railroads should be operated jointly or as separate entities; I wonder if this report will have any influence on that decision. If that happens, would MNR pull LIRR up, or would LIRR drag MNR down?

Those energy-saving escalators don’t work b/c all the contractors are doing are installing the motion sensors+new equipment but they’re still using the old, frail, existing escalator steps/mechanical stuff.

I don’t think we need any more rider report cards. Every line gets a C- and every passenger has the same gripes (trains are too few, too crowded, and too slow). Now that we know what’s wrong, let’s fix it….
