And I have been on the subway regularly since then.. Back in the 60s you couldn't talk on the subway, especially during the summer when the windows were open, it was too noisy. The subways already aren't quite with the load rumbling, screeches and people yapping, so adding cellphones won't make much of a difference. What's most important is that we increase our capacity to communicate, which is vital to keep New York as a competitive global city.
