Of all the gimmicks on the L train, this one from Animal New York is the most L train thing around. London Kaye, a 24-year-old artist, crocheted the poles of an L train on Valentine’s Day. This was an unsanctioned guerrilla art installation that Animal New York filmed. It’s cute; it’s twee; it’s the L train.
Kaye spoke of her time knitting a train, and those from ANY who went with her said the crews loved it. “I feel like if I did this in a small town,” she said, “I’d get stopped by the cops. But here, there is so much action. Who’s going to stop a little girl crocheting?”

Can I just state that I find the 4/5 change cool, yet asinine?
At least the 5 line riders can enjoy a break from the annoying “trains run every 20/30 minutes” and a one seat ride to Brooklyn.
Wonder will they send extra 5 service to pick up the slack of the 4 train? 1 express on Lex Ave is going be packed.
5 trains were packed. Although I had to wonder, was the 5 replacing the 4, or was the 4 relabeled as the 5 and actually replacing the 5 in the Bronx? Existential question of the day…
Since 5 service to/from Utica and New Lots Avenues exists in the schedule somewhere, it would be the 5 replacing the 4.
