Live from the subways, it’s The Remaking of Pelham 1-2-3. New York’s seminal subway movie from the 1970s, The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 stands a classic view of both the subways and the city frozen in a moment of time. Today, Tony Scott is remaking the film with Denzel Washington, John Travolta and James Gandolfini. I’m not so optimistic that this remake will have the charmed and humor of the original, but, hey, we’ve got pictures of the site.
As you can see, Denzel Washington, an MTA employee with a gun up there, doesn’t look too amused, and I’m just terrified of the idea of a friendly MTA station agent packing heat. Whudat and WireImage have some more pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Mr. Scott and his crew were filming in my area, near the 61st St and Roosevelt Ave stop (Woodside), for a couple days two weeks or so back.
A re: packing heat, maybe that’s why the station agents are now roaming around instead of being planted behind all that Plexiglas. Heh.
Actually if you accompnay the MetroCard re-stockers and maintenance votes you carry a gun! Not sure if you wear an orange vest though.
Let’s try this again –

I can’t see any way this remake won’t suck.
My friend, I’ve seen the original movie “The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3” on TV many times, including the one that was filmed in Toronto in the late 90s, which it should have been called the “The Taking of Bloor-Danforth One Two Three”, since it never came close to the original one flimed in NYC.
I’m very glad that the producers of the remake of “The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3” have the forsight to film it in New York. Because the real New Yorkers, like myself, know their subway.
I hope the hijackers win. Maybe they will be able to get the trains to run on time.
