As construction creeps along on Second Ave. for the city’s newest subway lines, business are getting hit hard. We know that the MTA is trying to do what it can to alleviate the impact, but this subway line will benefit hundreds of thousands of people when it opens. It’s a trade off. The Second Ave. Business Association (SABA) is taking matters into its own hands. This Thursday, they’re hosting a fundraiser at Blondie’s on Second Ave. between 92nd and 93rd Sts. The money from entrance fees — $20 now, $25 at the door — as well as the proceeds from the raffle and auction will go to the SABA as it attempts to lessen the impact of the construction on local business. I wonder if the complaints were the same as when they were building the IRT west side? but still, Woolworths wasn’t as bad as a competitor as the big box stores are nowadays. You know even with their big Gov. subsodies and all, I think that Joe corner bodega can beat them.(I’m being some what phecicious for you people that misconstrude).

Things would appear to be getting dire for more than a few of the businesses in the current SAS construction zone on the UES.
