Where: On the platform at the station currently known as Jay St. – Borough Hall
Via loyal SAS reader Jeffrey, who sent this photo in via his Twitter account, comes a snapshot of things to come in Downtown Brooklyn. As I reported over the weekend, the connection between the Jay St. – Borough Hall stop on the A/C/F and the Lawrence St.-MetroTech station on the R will open at 1 p.m. tomorrow, and the MTA wants everyone to know about the station’s new name. I’ll be at the ribbon-cutting in the morning, and I’ll try to take some photos of the new passageway. So far, all we’ve seen is a video. The changes should be reflected on the subway map in the upcoming weeks.

So happy, I don’t use the ACF but it will be so much warmer using this route to get to Poly then walking through the courtyard.

When is the ribbon cutting ceremony? Is it before 1? I live on the F line and am going to be there tomorrow to use it since I’ve been looking forward to this for a while.
I wonder if they’ll have reprogrammed the FIND system display and automated announcements by tomorrow with the new name and transfer possibilities? I’m guessing no since both the displays and automated announcements still tell people that they can transfer to the V at Second Avenue and neglect to tell people they can transfer to the G at the stops between Smith-9th and Church Avenue.

To my mild dissappointment I was in a Manhattan bound F Train that pulled into Jay Street @ 8:17am, there was no announcement by the conductor that you can transfer to the ‘R’. There was no change in the train display either, it still said Jay Street/Borough Hall A*C*F… I sure they will change the display to Jay Street/Metrotech A*C*F*M shortly…
Kudos to the MTA for this connection! Only praise can be given when MTA finishes a capital improvement.

I see the FIND programmed with the M everytime I take either the E or F, so yeah, they’ve been updated for awhile.
No, when they updated the FIND system to add the M they neglected to remove the V from Second Avenue when the trains are traveling uptown. They also neglected to add the additional stations served by the extended G.
The extended G isn’t on the FIND displays because that’s only a “temporary” extension brought on by the Culver Viaduct rehab. The V train, on the other hand, is a sloppy mistake.
The whole point of electronic signs is that they can be changed on the fly. If the “temporary” extension is meant to last longer than a day, then there’s no reason it shouldn’t be shown on the electronic displays. It costs nothing to change or to change back and it better informs riders. Personally, I think this omission is also a sloppy mistake.
If we want to really get into it, there’s all sorts of great information that could be conveyed with the electronic signs and automated announcements if they really are changeable on the fly. How great would it be to hear: “This is 125th Street. Transfer is available to the 6 train — which will arrive in approximately 3 minutes” or “This is 125th Street. Transfer is available to the 6 train but due to a signal problem 6 trains are not running between 125th Street and the Bronx.” Some day.
Agree wholeheartedly. Those couple G/F transfers in Brooklyn have been left off the announcements and displays for months now. This is very, very sloppy.
Now, if they would finally do something about 370 Jay overhead!
