R160s spotted on the F line

By Benjamin Kabak

Lost City spotted some new R160s on the F line yesterday and eagerly anticipates the new cars’ arrivals on the oft-neglected line. While these are just tests for now — I remember seeing these on the A about 18 months ago — this development is right in line with the MTA’s plans to eventually implement CBTC along the F. Of course, the new cars will probably be here long before CBTC is, but hey, we can dream [Lost City]

    C – B – T – C (not CBCT), as in “Computer Based Train Control”

I saw a bunch of R160s on the W yesterday, too. Is that also a test, or is this old news?

  3. Kris Datta says:

R160s are coming to the (F) during January. It will only be a few sets, not enough to replace the entire fleet although this may change – at this point, they will be based out of a small storage yard for the (F), but if they reach the main yard then they can see service on the rest of the Queens Blvd. routes.
